Trad Discos, Session Competitions and Concerts to Add to Action-Packed Fleadh Programme

Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009 is fast approaching and as part of the action packed programme of events, there are many super youth events taking place.

The Fleadh takes place from 16^th August 2009 to 23^rd August next and is shaping up to be another exciting Fleadh.

And, as part of the youth programme, organised by the Fleadh’s Youth Officer, James Hogan, there are some terrific events taking place.

These include the ‘Trad Disco’ and Ceol na Cruinne and the Fleadh’s Session Competition and much much more.

The ‘Trad Disco’ takes place in the Bridge House Hotel, Tullamore again this year and has become a firm favourite of the youth events.

It is an excellent night of fun, dance and music in the ballroom of the hotel between 9pm and 11pm on Tuesday, 18^th August 2009 with admission just €5.

DJ Paddy Callaghan, all the way from Glasgow, will provide the music for this exciting night and we hope to see you there.

The Fleadh’s Session competition has become extremely popular over the past three years. The first heat of the competition takes place on Wednesday, 19^th August between 5pm and 7pm while the second heat will take place between 4.30pm and 6pm in various pubs around Tullamore on Thursday, 20^th August.

The final of this competition will take place on Friday, 21^st August in the Bridge House Hotel at 4pm sharp.

‘Ceol na Cruinne’ promises to be a fantastic night’s entertainment with guests from all over the world participating on the night. This amazing concert takes place on Thursday, 20^th August 2009 at 7.30pm sharp.

It will include top class traditional Irish music song and dance from Ireland, America and Canada. There will be many well known artists from the traditional Irish music scene playing on the night also.

This is a ticket event and they can be purchased from the Fleadh office during the week of the Fleadh, 16^th August to 23^rd August next. The featured groups will be Zekley family band, Qristina and Quinn Bachand [Canada], Fuaim na gCuinnegáin [Galway], Mol an Óige [Offaly] and Ceoltoírí na hÉireann.
