Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2009 is set to go Green for this year’s event and Fleadh Goers are being asked to play their part.
The Fleadh 2009 is officially a Green Event, making it one of the most environmentally attractive events to take place in Ireland this summer.
This year’s event, which kicks off on Sunday 16th August 2009 and continues until 23rd August 2009, will emphasis the already established commitment to our environment by formalizing and promoting ‘Green Fleadh 2009’.
As part of the event, organisers are asking people to continue to car pool and parking in designated areas. A special emphasis this year is being placed on reusing, reducing and recycling.
We are reminding people that everyone plastic bottle or recyclable rubbish that is disposed of by fleadh goers is another step towards a clearer environment.
To mark the ‘Green Fleadh’, a theme song has been written and will be sung throughout the event. It will be given a special place of honour during the World’s Largest Traditional Irish Session Attempt, which takes place on Friday, 21st August next at 8pm in Market Square, Tullamore.
The ‘Green Fleadh Team’ will be out and about on the streets and they need your support.
This team is a group of volunteers who will be helping to dispose of recyclable rubbish and they will be encouraging you all to Reduce, Reuse and Recycle in the designated bins as provided by Tullamore Town Council. The 'Green Fleadh Team' will be wearing identifiable bibs.
The joint efforts of organisers and participants for ‘Green Fleadh 2009’can ensure our culture is in total harmony with our environment.
